日蘭社会保障協定
Japanese-Dutch Agreement on Social Security
The Netherlands and Japan have reached terms on a Social Security Agreement and related Administrative Arrangement. The Social Security Agreement will regulate, for instance, in which country employees who have been posted by their employer are insured with regard to invalidity, old age, death and medical expenses.
The Agreement will make it clear, for example, that a Japanese worker who has been posted to work in the Netherlands for a Japanese company remains exclusively covered under Japanese insurance. The new Agreement also applies to Japanese workers already working in the Netherlands; as soon as the Agreement takes effect, they will no longer be compulsorily insured in the Netherlands, but only in Japan.
The current situation
The Agreement and Administrative Arrangement were signed by Dutch Justice Minister Donner and Japanese Ambassador Shibuya in The Hague on 21 February 2008. The text of the Agreement still has to be finalised by the Dutch and Japanese parliaments. The precise date on which the Agreement takes effect depends on how long this takes.
We will keep you up to date on developments concerning the Agreement on our website.
